LASER EYE SURGERY- A PATIENTS GUIDE
Laser Eye Surgey
The eye requires extreme carebefore and after any surgical procedure. Laser eye surgeons will be able to recognise what the issue may be and perform the correct procedure to resolve the issue with the patients eye.
Not everyone is suitable for laser eye surgery. To conform that you are suitable for the procedure you will need to consult a surgeon who will tell you exactly what is wrong with your eyes and the best course of treatment. For instance it is unlikely that a surgeon would advise laser eye surgery if the eye degree of the patient has not stopped varying. Eye degree will continue to change as we get older until they hit a point where they get no worse and this tends to stay the same for quite some time. If you attempt laser eye surgery before the eye degree has stopped varying then it is possible that the person’s eye sight will continue to decline even after laser eye surgery and you may be required to go back to glasses or contacts.
How is Laser eye surgery performed? Firstly a blade is used to create a flap on the cornea so it can be folded exposing the middle part of the cornea to the laser. The flap that is cut in the first place is then replaced back to its original position. This form of laser eye surgery is the most commonly used.
